Schedule and locations of rehearsals
I
play the cello and have since I was 15. I
am fairly accomplished and I study locally
with Charlie
Forbes. Once a year, I participate
in Princeton Play Week which is a chamber music
(mostly string quartet) workshop. I
am a member of the Internet
Cello Society, an international group.
Instrument
Hanger I
invented an instrument hanger which has doubled
my practice time and made me a little money.
It is designed to hang the stringed instrument
by the scroll on the wall and includes a
padded board between the instrument and the
wall. My
cello is always available so I practice much
more than I used to. So far, they are
being used to hang cellos, violins and guitars.
The
hangers are $40.00 plus shipping and come
in wood or painted white wall mounts and
white or tapestry damask cushion. Custom
colors are available upon request for an
added charge of $5.00. (call 800-875-3139
to order one). I
will upload a photo when I can get a good
shot. Mine blends into the background so
well, you can't see it. Shar
Products Company Catalog this
is where I get most of my cello supplies
and
order my string music.
My
sister also plays the cello and is
in a professional group called "Cello". It
is a cello quartet and they play around the
world (available for hire). They have
two CDs.
The
performers are, Maureen McDermott, Laura
Bontrager, Maria
Kitsoupolus, and Stephanie Cummins. For
information about hiring them for a concert
(they are very good) call Laura Bontrager celloquartet@gmail.com.
Also, visit them at www.celloquartet.com Celloheaven.com has
a lot of cello related information and links.
Knitting
is a hobby at which I am getting good at.
However,
I get a lot of advice and help from a some lists
I subscribe to. there is Knitters Digest
and KnitU and KnitList
and this is my favorite list. Check out the
web for everything you always wanted to know
about knitting. Links
to photos of some of my knitting projects.
Then
there is http://www.knitting.about.com/ which
has lots of information about knitting and
stitch patterns.
If
you are looking for very unusual yarns,
www.artfibers.com is
the place to look. They
will design a sweater for you (pretty ordinary
designs) with the kind of neck and sleeves
you want, and they will ship the yarn to you. Everything
I have gotten from them has been extraordinary
(the yarn, that is). I was out there
in San Francisco in November of 1999 and the
store was right across the street from my hotel. I
hadn't knit in over 30 years but in an hour
I was hooked! Artfibers 124 Sutter Street.,

HGTV
is the delight of anyone who likes to work
with his or her hands and "make things". This
site helps you do crafts (not my thing) and
home decorating and home repair (my thing)
and gardening (getting to be my thing). You
get step by step directions to do things they
show on the TV station. Unfortunately,
you don't always get pictures to guide you. Gardening Gardensolutions.com
has a newsletter you can subscribe to which
is tailored to the region you live in. It
will tell you when it is time to divide the
perennials, and when to plant the bulbs and
all that information which I find hard
to remember.
http://www.handymanclub.com/ is
a site available to members which has lots
of advice for building projects and home
repair.
Landmark Education
There
is a lot of information, good and bad, available
about Landmark Education,
their history and their programs. I endorse
them wholeheartedly. Assisting Reports
